Which type of price is on the page?
As of September 2026, the same medicine could have different prices depending on how it was paid for.
List price means the figure the medicine’s maker publishes. Paying the cash price means paying without asking insurance to cover the bill.
A discount card offers a reduced price outside insurance. A maker’s savings card can lower what an eligible person with private insurance pays. A government programme has its own price and conditions.
The patient’s share of a covered bill is called a copay.
With prior authorization, the plan must agree ahead of time to pay.
A real example of an opening offer
As of September 2026, the government price page gave a price of $199 per fill for semaglutide (Ozempic) injection during the first two monthly fills.
The offer was for new patients who were adults living in the US and paid the medicine bill themselves, outside insurance. It applied to the two lowest starting strengths, meaning the amount of medicine in the product.
Before counting on the opening price, ask the pharmacy if your prescribed strength qualifies.
The listed price for later monthly fills depended on the prescribed strength: $349 or $499.
The opening offer’s terms ran through December 31, 2026.
Insurance could not reimburse this cash spending, and the spending did not count toward the deductible.
A deductible is an amount paid before a plan starts sharing certain covered costs.
- Is this an opening offer or the ongoing price?
- Does it apply to the product on my prescription?
- Who qualifies, and when do the terms end?
- Does it sit outside insurance?
- What service charges are extra?
This dated example gives only medicine costs; it is not a price quote for your own care. Ask for the full bill before making a choice.

Choose the price for your prescription
Ask whether the quote uses insurance or is paid entirely by you. If a card lowers the price, ask which card and what conditions apply.
